Mayoral engagements

Monday 30 September 2024

The Mayor and Consort will host a visit in the Mayor's Parlour, City Hall, Sunderland at 1.15pm where they will meet with School Council pupils from St Paul's RC Primary School, Ryhope, Sunderland.  

Tuesday 1 October 2024

The Mayor and Consort will attend the Sunderland v Derby County football match at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

Wednesday 2 October 2024

The Mayor and Consort will visit Visuna Limited, Wynn House, Hertburn Industrial Estate, Washington at 1pm.  During their visit they will witness the Lord-Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear present Visuna Limited with the Kings Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2024, the Mayor will also personally congratulate everyone involved for their achievements.

Thursday 3 October 2024

The Mayor and Consort will attend the National Glass Centre, Liberty Way, Sunderland at 5.45pm for a preview of the Veterans Into Clay Sunderland Exhibition. The Mayor will see a special showcase of ceramic works created by the city's veteran community and meet with those involved in the project. 

Friday 4 October 2024

The Mayor and Consort will formally open the Houghton Feast Funfair with local SEND children at 1pm.  This will be held at The Old Rectory Field, Houghton. 

The Deputy Mayor will visit Evidence Based Education, Grange Lodge, 1 Grange Cresent, Sunderland SR2 7BN at 2pm.  During the visit the Deputy Mayor will witness the Lord-Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear present Evidence Based Education with the Kings Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2024, the Deputy Mayor will also personally congratulate everyone involved for their achievements.

The Mayor and Consort will attend St Michael and All Angels Church, Houghton le Spring at 6.15pm where the Mayor will officially open the 2024 Houghton Feast Festival and switch on the illuminations.


Saturday 5 October 2024

The Mayor and Consort will attend the Houghton Feast Roasting of the Ox at 12.50pm which will take place at the Old Rectory, Broadway, Houghton le Spring.  The Mayor will sample the first ox sandwich of the Houghton Feast Festival 2024.

The Mayor and Consort will attend the Houghton Feast Primary School Dash at 1.50pm. The Mayor will present medals to the race winners at St Michael and All Angels Church, Houghton le Spring as they cross the finish line. 

The Mayor and Consort will attend the Houghton Feast Parade at 2pm which will take place at St Michael and All Angels Church, Houghton. 

The Mayor and Consort will attend the International Community Organisation of Sunderland (ICOS) 15th Anniversary Celebrations at 6pm which are being held at Carnival House and Kitchen, Kings Road, Sunderland. The Mayor will deliver a short speech to thank everyone and join in the celebrations.

Sunday 6 October 2024

The Mayor and Consort will attend the annual Houghton Feast Civic Sunday Church Service at 10am which will be held at St Michael and All Angels Church, Houghton le Spring. The Deputy Mayor will also be in attendance.

At 1pm the Mayor and Consort will join members of the Houghton Feast Committee, Showmen and Showwomen to celebrate the Sunday fairground opening.  This will be the first time in 75 years that the fairground has opened on a Sunday.
