Reporting rodents at a nearby property
Rodents not on your property
All properties can become vulnerable to pests at some time or other. Sometimes an issue with the building structure can lead to a pest infestation and sometimes negligent behaviour on the part of the occupants is responsible.
If you have a problem with rats or mice that are coming from another property you could have a polite conversation with the owner or occupant, they might not be aware of the problem, or that it is affecting you.
Alternatively, you can report rodent problems with another property here.
Reporting rodents at a nearby property
If you report rodents at a nearby property
If you report rodents at a nearby property, the details of your report will be reviewed by an officer within 5 working days. The officer will try to identify the cause of an infestation and will offer advice to residents about how to destroy and deter pests.
We have specific legal powers to take steps to ensure that our area is free from rats and mice, and if necessary we may serve a notice on an owner or an occupier ordering work to get rid of the problem.
If you have a problem with rats or mice that are coming from someone else's property, we may be able to take action using this power.
