The City Council is working with key partners to make sure that there's something for everyone in the city this summer with everything from a Jurassic jungle trail to giant Jenga, and the chance to make your own 3D model lighthouse.

That's not to mention Active Family Fun sessions across Sunderland parks, movies at the Minster, a girls only Euro celebration day at the Beacon of light and a fabulous roller rink in Keel Square.

There's also the chance to see some major sporting action when Sunderland hosts the British Triathlon Super Series Grand Final along the seafront at Roker on the weekend of 20 and 21 August and the Tour of Britain visits the city for the first time on Tuesday 6 September.

Councillor Linda Williams, Sunderland City Council's Cabinet Member for Vibrant City, said: "I know that many parents will be looking for things they can do to keep the kids entertained over the summer holidays

"So it's brilliant that there's so much happening across the city this summer with something for everyone, whatever their age and interests and whatever the weather, right through until September. With many of the activities free too, it's definitely worth checking out the My Sunderland website for all the details."
