Council Tax Energy Rebate
On Thursday 3 February 2022, a support package was announced by the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, to help households with rising energy bills.
The scheme is to be administered by the City Council and will see Sunderland households in Council Tax Bands A - D receive a £150 non-repayable rebate.
Payments are not due to be made before Friday 1 April.
Additionally, a discretionary fund will be available to provide support to those households on low incomes but who are not eligible for the Council Tax rebate - again, to be paid from April onwards.
Further information regarding both schemes will be published once the detailed guidance from Government has been received and we will explain how residents can apply for the rebate and discretionary fund.
The Government guidance is expected in the next seven to ten days and we will update residents immediately.
