The usual events planned for Sunderland Pride have been moved online for a 'virtual festival.'

Sunderland City Council is one of the main sponsors for the event, taking place between 2 - 7 August.

Councillor Claire Rowntree, Deputy Leader and Diversity Champion at Sunderland City Council, said: "We were very disappointed that Sunderland Pride was once again postponed due to Covid, but we are delighted to see a programme of exciting online events taking place instead.

"As a council we support inclusivity and diversity, and we couldn't be prouder to be supporting Sunderland Pride's virtual festival and the LGBTQ+ community in the city. We hope everyone will be able to enjoy celebrating Pride in person again next year."
