Washington Area

The Washington area of Sunderland covers Washington Central, Washington East, Washington North, Washington South and Washington West.

Sunderland Council has been hosting public consultations in the area since 2019, to understand what residents think of their neighbourhoods and how they need to change to improve people's lives.

Here's what happened at just one of our meetings:

Some of the main issues raised during the consultations included:

• Improve Cleansing 
• Improve parks and play areas
• Enforcing against people leaving trolleys around the area after shopping 
• Support community facilities to enable more services locally
